Forgiveness

"Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,

whose sin is covered."

Psalm 32:1

Forgiveness is the theme of the Bible.

Forgiveness is the gift of God.

Forgiveness is necessary and available!

Forgiveness for Who?

From the best of people to the worst of people, all of us are in need of forgiveness.

Romans 3:10 "There is none righteous, no, not one."

Forgiveness for What?

All of us are in need of forgiveness for our sin.

Romans 3:23 "All have sinned."

Forgiveness from Whom?

All of us are in need of forgiveness from a Holy God for our sins against Him.

Isaiah 59:2 "Your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you."

All of us need to be forgiven for our sin or else we will spend eternity separated from God, receiving a just condemnation for our sin (hell).

Thanks to God's LOVE, all of us CAN be forgiven!

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Thanks to God's SON, all of us CAN be forgiven!

Colossians 1:13-14 "In Whom (God's Dear Son) we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins."

How to receive the forgiveness of sin & eternal life:

1) Acknowledge your sin in a spirit of repentance.

Recognize your sin before God - Repent of your sin to God.

Acts 17:30 "God now commandeth all men every where to repent."

2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

2) Believe that Jesus Christ died for your sin.

Knowing the penalty for sin (hell), acknowledge God's sacrifice (Jesus Christ) by faith.

Romans 5:8 "God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

1 Peter 3:18 "Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God."

Galatians 2:16 "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ."

Romans 5:1 "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."

3) Confess your faith in Jesus Christ, trusting in Him alone to bring you forgiveness of sins.

In your own words, say a simple but sincere prayer to God acknowledging your sin, your penalty, His sacrifice and His offer of forgiveness.  Ask God to give you forgiveness of sin through Jesus Christ and to grant you eternal salvation.

Romans 10:9-10,13 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
