I have attended Calvary Heights my entire life. I am the daughter of the College & Career leaders, David and Nancy Kress. I accepted the precious gift of Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior at a very young age and have always had a desire for missions. I now have the privilege of leading a local urban outreach ministry called Mercy Street.
Mercy Street Ministry was created to provide an opportunity for the young adults at Calvary Heights to be leaders in their local church through serving the homeless of Buffalo. Every Saturday at 10 am, some of the young adults along with Jim Cox (Fishers of Men Ministry) and I drive down to Lafayette Square in Buffalo to minister to those in need. We strive to show the homeless the love of Christ through discipleship, devotionals, food, clothing, prayer, housing, jobs and through any other spiritual and or physical need. This provides an opportunity for all young adults to become active in their Christian walk. This ministry has been a huge blessing in my life. I am thankful that God has chosen his people to be his hands and feet to those in need.
Matthew 25:34-40 “Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
