Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

In September 2008, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Early in 2009, I was told I would have to go through chemo treatments.  Our first grandchild was being dedicated at a local church that February, which was the day before I would begin my chemo treatments.  That day in church, the quilting women of that church handed me a bag with a beautiful quilt, encouraging card and book entitled, "When God and Cancer Meet" and they told me that they would be praying for me.  What a comfort God gave me through perfect strangers!  Philippians 4:13 has been a comforting verse through the days of my cancer as I realized Christ strengthens me through the trials of my life.  As a result, God led me to begin a quilting ministry in January of 2010, which we began in a church, then in a home and now at Calvary Heights.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, "Blessed by God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God."  At our work day meetings, we sew, tie knots to attach quilt tops, but most importantly, we PRAY for each person who is battling cancer or a serious illness.  Prayer is powerful and God answers prayer.  Most importantly, we pray for their eternal salvation because if they receive the gift of eternal salvation, they are in a "win - win" situation as we pray for God's healing in their lives.  We also pray for the caregivers for God's strength to be upon them as they care for their loved one.  Hands to Hearts Quilt Ministry is here to pray for and comfort others as God has comforted some of us going through cancer and/or others sicknesses & trials.
